Original woodblock print shunga illustrations (2) - Attributed to Utagawa Kunisada II (1823-1880) - ’Emperor Gaozu of Han' and 'Hegemon-King of Western Chu [Xiang Yu]' - Japan - 1842 Two successive pages from the shunga book “Ehon kanso endan” (1832) by Utagawa Kunisada II. Not signed, as essentially all shunga; but ascribed to Kunisada II in “japanese erotic art – The Hidden World of Shunga” (Thames & Hudson, 2013) by Ofer Shagan. There, the two pages are shown as colour illustration 6.18, page 127. Size: originally 2x Hanshi-bon (2x ca. 23 x 15 cm) Very good impressions and colours, but fair condition. Paper losses at margins, particularly lower margins, of both pages. Some folds in right page. Stains throughout. Both pages are backed with very thin translucent paper which is better visible on the scans with black background.
