Muhammad ibn Sulayman al-Jazuli - Dala'il al-Khayrat - India - 1778

An illuminated leaf from Indian Prayer Book the Dala'il al-Khayrat, 1778, with an elaborate arabesque border, nine (9) lines of prayer with commentary in red between the lines. The scripture is in black nasta'liq pillowed in gold clouds. Simple gold aya mark verses. The script is common prayer, with Muhammad as its subject. It asks for the blessings of God and the granting of peace to Muhammad as Gods messenger on earth. This leaf was saved from a badly damaged copy of the Dala'il al-Khayrat, one of the most popular devotional prayer books of Islam, composed by Muhammad ibn Sulayman al-Jazuli. The condition of this page is good, given its age, although there are a couple of very small wormholes (see image 4g as an example). It is a beautiful manuscript leaf. Please note that shipping costs are not solely the cost of the postal delivery service itself. Included within the shipping price is the work undertaken to prepare the article, for photography, for uploading to Catawiki, for preparation and packaging the article securely and for transporting the article to the postal delivery agent for processing. Also, please consider when bidding on this lot that this artwork is shipped from the UK. Import duties will now have to be paid by the recipient to the Postal Service when the parcel arrives in your country. This will likely vary between 5% and 20% of the sale price depending on your country's Import Rate, so please check this if you are concerned. This is a Tax collected on behalf of your Government and is not an additional fee charged by us.
