Raymond Harris-Ching/Peter Hansard - Wild Portraits-The Wildlife Art of Raymond Harris-Ching - 1988

Raymond Harris Ching/Peter Hansard-Wild Portraits Ray Harris Ching-Wild Portraits Australian artist Raymond Harris Ching is known (in Europa) since 1969 when he painted the artwork for The Book of British Birds. He is considered a renegade artist in the wildlife genre, he paints wild creatures obsessively and has pushed the boundaries of bird painting from its familiar traditions to break entirely new ground In Wild Portraits, the distinctive Harris-Ching touch is seen over a range of animal portraits which for the first time cover his restless wanderings from the Arctic to Australasia. As well as works shown in their final painted form, many sheets of preparatory pencil sketches not earlier seen are included. In this book Raymond Harris-Ching’s curiosity covers animals often ignored by painters and this volume offers a cornucopia of over 200 plates of which 180 are published here for the first time. Airlife Publishing 1988, 1st edition 31x29 cm, 216 pages Condition: Very good, only minor shelfware and 1 small tear (backside) on dustcover, spine faded
