Indus Valley Pottery Vessels (3) Circa 3rd millennium BC This group of three pottery vessels presents a diverse array of forms. Among them is a bowl with a hemispherical body, featuring a dark-painted cross embellished with vegetal finials within its interior, all encircled by a band of animals. Another vessel boasts a flat base and tapering walls, while the third showcases a vase with a globular body and a short neck. Ancient Indus Valley, located in present-day Pakistan and northwest India, was home to one of the world's oldest civilizations. Flourishing from approximately 3300 to 1300 BC, the Indus Valley Civilization achieved notable advancements in urban planning, trade, and craftsmanship. The cities of Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro are among its remarkable archaeological sites, showcasing advanced drainage systems, standardized brick sizes, and evidence of a sophisticated social structure.
