Fabulous Round Vase, produced by Herend - “ Rothschild Bird Collection “, extremely rare, in excellent to pristine condition. This magnificent vase is a complex model, well known hand painted pattern with birds perched among branches and scattered insects, heavily gilded. It is marked and numbered on the back of the base with Herend shield stamp. Herend First Choice. This pattern was first created in 1850 for the Rothschild family of Europe and is considered to be the epitome of hand painting on porcelain. Twelve different motifs portray a 19th century tale about Baroness Rothschild who lost her pearl necklace in the garden of her Vienna residence. Several days later it was found by her gardener, who saw birds playing with it in a tree. This is a piece for the most pretentious collectors, in excellent to pristine condition, NO chips, NO cracks, NO repairs, please see the pictures as they are part of description.
