About the vintage
Agricultural rum produced at Habitation Clément - then Domaine de l'Acajou - in Martinique from hand-cut estate cane, aged in oak barrels and bottled after a long aging in 200 liter oak barrels then preserved in lightning in recent years.

History of the Clément distillery
On April 19, 1887, businessman Homere Clément, also the first mixed-race doctor in Martinique, purchased the Acajou estate at auction. He settled with his family in the main house and became a planter, delivering his sugar cane to the François factory for 30 years.
In 1917, driven by the war effort, Homere Clément built a distillery on the Acajou estate. Indeed, during the First World War, the authorities encouraged the production of rum.
The “Rhum Acajou” brand was created in 1930 and the company distinguished itself by bottling its own rums, even if at that time the vast majority of the rum produced was sent in bulk to traders in mainland France...
