Size: Width: 11.5 cm Depth: 11.6 cm Height: 33.7 cm Artist Profile: Kozuru Hajime, born as the eldest son of Kozuru Kazan in Akaike Town, Fukuoka, is a revered figure in the Ueno-yaki ceramic tradition. After graduating from the Saga Prefectural Arita Industrial High School's ceramics department in 1957, he took over the family kiln. He established his own kiln in Hisayama Town, Kasuya District, in 1965 and received consecutive awards at the Japan Traditional Craft Exhibition in 1968 and 1969, leading to his membership in the Japan Craft Association. His contributions to the field extend to international educational roles, including instructing pottery at Harvard University and serving as a researcher at the Peabody Museum. Known as a researcher of ancient Ueno-yaki, Kozuru was honored with the Fukuoka Prefecture Culture Award in 1997.
