Pre-Columbian, Costa Rica, Guanacaste/Nicoya Region, ca. 300 to 500 A.D. A gorgeous bird celt, skillfully carved and string cut from a beautiful piece of pale green jadeite. The form depicts a perched bird with wonderful details: a long, pointed beak, band of incised feathers atop its head, and schematic feathered wings meeting across the chest above the celt-shaped blade below. Centrally drilled on the uppert area for attachment or suspension. The reverse has a slight ridge from hewing out of a larger rock and / or carving. On included custom stand Dimensions: 12,00 cm.
