Galerie des Modes et Costumes Français Between 1911 and 1914, Paul Cornu and Emile Lévy published a reproduction of the series complete with hand-colored plates as well as text sourced from eighteenth-century periodicals and literature, though only 325 plates are accounted for. Galerie des Modes is a huge monument to the world of fashion. As highlighted in New for Now, the Galerie was circulated among a wide array of "fashion-conscious" audiences, both in France and abroad, and would ultimately go down in history as "the best and largest" fashion plate series of the eighteenth century. You will not come across many copies of this portfolio. It consists of three folders with 25 handcoloured prints. These are the "livraison" No 4, 5 et 6. In No 4 are missing plates 79, 96 and 98. The No 5 and 6 are complete.
