This iconic Salvador Dali portrait is made by famous American portrait photographer, Philippe Halsman.
It took Halsman and Dalí 28 tries to achieve the playful weightlessness. In the late 1940s, the two began to collaborate on a variety of photographic projects. This most iconic image to emerge from this collaboration, is a portrait of the artist inspired by his painting, Leda Atomica (1949), which appears in the composition’s right-hand corner—hanging suspended above the ground like the easel, chair, stepstool, cats, water, and Dalí himself.
This fine art quality print is 15th part of an edition of 25 pieces, released in 2022.
The photograph is printed on Hahnemuhle German Etching 310g paper.
Includes a certificate of authenticity and signed by Hallsman in negative.
Origin of negative: Library of Congress, Washington, D.C. 20540 USA.
