Bournonit - Trepča Stan Trg-gruven, Kosovo - Høyde: 12 cm - Bredde: 9.5 cm- 860 g

Watch a video of this specimen by following the Vimeo link below: https://vimeo.com/893299575 In 2020, a groundbreaking find of bournonite was made in the new and deepest 11th horizon of the Trepca mine, setting a new standard for the species in this deposit but also putting Trepca on the map as one of the top localities worldwide for bournonite. This is one of the best specimens from this find, featuring excellent bournonite crystals (up to 3.3 cm long), featuring cyclic 'cogwheel' twinning, high luster and sharpness, on a gangue of carbonates lined with small brassy pyrite after pyrrhotite clusters and black sphalerite crystals. As you can from the last pictures of the back of the specimen, a natural fracture goes through several crystals, that was originally sealed by carbonates. After cleaning and removal of the carbonates to show the bournonite crystals, some parts had to be strengthened to ensure good conservation and easy handling, hence three professional repairs were made. Without doubt a fine European bournonite specimen!
