Brocot & Delettrez of Paris, a 19th-century French gilt bronze mantel clock modelled as a classical beauty reclining against a globe and holding a scroll with astronomical motifs,
The movement is an eight-day movement stamped for the maker and numbered 8664, on an original giltwood plinth, 50cm wide, 34cm high
Antoine Jean-Baptiste Delettrez and Achille Brocot, son of the respected clockmaker Louis-Gabriel Brocot, established Paris in October 1851, with premises at 62 Rue Charlot. Delettrez worked alongside Achille Brocot for several years and built a reputation for high-quality clock movements. The firm was awarded a 1st class prize at the Paris World Exposition of 1857
***CONDITION REPORT***
Overall honest untouched condition, ormolu remains bright, with a few small pit marks and rather dusty
The movement looks complete but the string is out of sequence of hours
The original plinth is in very antique condition and rather tired.
