Seljuk Circular Bronze Dish Circa 12th-13th century AD This nice bronze circular dish features a flat bottom and a flat everted rim. The central roundel of the dish is adorned with a depiction of a mythical creature, possibly Buraq, and a band of inscriptions runs around the rim. Buraq, in Islamic tradition, is a mythical steed associated with the Prophet Muhammad's Night Journey (Isra and Mi'raj). Described as a celestial creature with wings and the face of a woman, Buraq played a symbolic role in the miraculous journey.
