Mercedes-Benz - 300 D (W189) Cabriolet - 1958

1958 Mercedes-Benz Adenauer W 186 D. The Adenauer was completely dismantled in 2020/2021 and was extensively restored by a vintage car workshop to a state-of-the-art convertible. During this renovation, parts were replaced with new ones and some old parts were restored. New paintwork, soft top, seats, interior trim and leather. The six-cylinder engine and gearbox have been overhauled, and, according to Mercedes, the engine is original. The convertible is in good technical and visual condition. This exclusive Mercedes-Benz Adenauer was initially delivered to Venezuela where it was used as an embassy vehicle. The vehicle was imported into Germany in 1992. In December, the convertible was presented to an assessor and was awarded with a grade of 2 Plus. It was assessed as follows in the text: A good vehicle, absolutely free of defects and in original preserved or meticulously restored condition with no missing parts and only very slight signs of wear. The Mercedes-Benz is registered and has its TÜV (German MOT equivalent). It has the following imperfections: There are two small holes in the dashboard without usage; side trim panels and driver's side armrest are still in the original leather; new side window cranks are difficult to operate. The Mercedes-Benz 300 D Adenauer is probably one of the most beautiful luxury vehicles of the 1950s. When German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer was granted the Mercedes as his official car, it earned the nickname Adenauer Mercedes. The vehicle can be viewed in Potsdam. Viewing the vehicle prior to placing a bid is recommended. Please contact Catawiki for an appointment.
