Never framed, never exposed. - Size: 50 x 70cm. - Henri Matisse, born on December 31, 1869, in Le Cateau, Picardy, France, and died on November 3, 1954, in Nice, is often regarded as the most important French painter of the 20th century. He was the leader of the Fauvist movement around 1900 and pursued the expressiveness of color throughout his career. His subjects were largely domestic or figurative, and a distinct Mediterranean verve presides in the treatment. Matisse’s style is distinguished by the use of color and shape characteristic of Fauvism. He used bright colors to depict his subjects, focusing more on shape and feeling rather than a concrete form. The eight major art styles associated with Matisse are Fauvism, Divisionism, Pointillism, Post-Impressionism, Orientalism, Cubism, Abstract Art, and Modernism. Matisse’s artworks have been sold at auction multiple times, with realized prices ranging that have reached up to 80,750,000 USD, depending on the size and medium of the artwork. His painting “Odalisque couchée aux magnolias” (1923) achieved a record price for a work by the artist when it sold at famous auction house in 2018 for $80.8 million. Some artists of similar importance, Basquiat, Picasso, Hockney, Lichtenstein, Sorolla, Banksy, Brainwash, Miró, Nara, Soulages, Lagasse, Ramos, Rothko, Lautrec, Klimt, Modigliani, Hirst, Chagall, Koons, Haring, Indiana, Mondrian, Groening, Richter, Monroe, Kusama, Murakami, Testa, Villemot, Oldenburg, Hopper, Ripolles, Wesselmann, Magritte, Jenk, Orlinski, Wille, Rizzi, Manara, Thiebaud, Herrera, Laurent, Klein, Coa, Dior, Vuitton, Kaws, Valentino, Cappiello, Kandinsky, Warhol, Buffa, Tura, Castle, Ponti, Knoll, Corbusier, rober, Johns, Starck, Breuer, Nelson, Mogensen, Ponti, Bertoia, Urquiola, Chillida.
