Château Toussicourt - porcelain bonbonnière on bronze lions paws (2.5 kg) - approx. 1850-1899
This particular porcelain bonbonnière has its origins in Château Toussicourt in Villers-Franqueux (Marne).
In this castle Hugues Krafft (1853-1935), a famous French traveller and photographer, grew up. His parents bought this castle in 1855.
Hugues Krafft was best known as one of the first persons to take live photos in nature with a Zeiss camera with glass plates.
In 1917 during the first world war, this castle was heavily damaged.
The bonbonnière is hand painted with craquelure effect and stands on 4 bronze lion legs which overflow in a lavishly decorated bronze edge.
On the lid a bronze rose. On the bottom the mark of Château Toussicourt.
This model is presumably from the period 1850-1900
