Mickey Mouse "Pop-Art" Limited Edition Grano-Lithograph - plate signed, numbered and stamped CMOA. This was one of the 10 images used in Warhol's famously popular 1981 'Myths' portfolio. The portfolio referenced imaginary characters from early cinema and television 'portraying the universal view of America's once enchanted and powerful past'. Included in the series are characters loved by children such as Superman, Howdy Doody, and Santa Claus, as well as fictional figures like Dracula, The Wicked Witch of the West, and Uncle Sam. The Carnegie Museum of Art (CMOA) is based in Warhol's home city of Pittsburgh. It holds the world's largest collection of original works by Warhol. It is said that Warhol approved and oversaw the production of these lithographs the year before he died.
