Due to the age of the machines and technology the abolishment of the Glasi seemed inevitable. However, through the efforts of the municipality and Roberto Niederer the factory was saved. Nowadays, the Glasi is a tourist attraction. Visitors can see the glass workers at work (source Wikipedia).
