Mercedes-Benz - 190 Automatic "Heckflosse" - 1965

Do not miss out on this opportunity and become the new owner of this timeless classic Mercedes Heckflosse! The W111 was built by Mercedes-Benz from 1959 ("W" stands for Wagen). The W111 is a predecessor of the current S-class and was, especially for that time, a luxury car. The W111 was a pioneer in terms of passive safety. The interior of the W111 has upholstered protruding parts, in case of accident injuries could be prevented. The door handles didn’t stick out anymore. The W111 was the first car with a safety steering wheel, to avoid the javelin effect. It was also the first time a safety cage with integrated crumple zone was used, after a design by Béla Barényi. The development of the W111, the successor to the Ponton, began in 1956. The production began in 1959. These cars quickly got the nickname "Flosse" or "Heckflosse". In English-speaking countries they are known under the nickname "Finnie". The tail fins were, compared to their American contemporaries, more harmonious and according to Mercedes’ corner markings, these were useful when parallel parking. The body design comes from the team of the then head designer Karl Wilfert. This restored Mercedes starts instantly and idles nicely and shifts smoothly through all the gears. The car has very good dark red lacquer and features a completely new leather interior, the original matching numbers engine and transmission were both overhauled in the last months. The car runs well on both petrol and LPG. A nice detail is that the car still has the original Becker Europa radio. Technically completely in working order, the exhaust was also replaced. Roadworthy. This Mercedes was originally delivered in the Netherlands in 1965, it is an original European Mercedes, not a US import. These Mercedes Heckflosse are rising significantly in value and are becoming rarer. So don't wait too long.
