Wayan Winten was Born on November 12th 1962 in Ubud, Bali and living at Teges, Peliatan, Ubud. He is famous not only as woodcarver but as a pioneer of creative concrete sculptures. Amongst various gigantic creations, his Varuna sculpture is an impressive statue in the heart of the busiest intersection in Bali, having a entire new road system built around it it is such a landmark (see last picture).
He is also a teacher at the fine art school at Sukawati Batubulan
