I am offering here a great painting by the painter WILHELM GDANIETZ (1893 - 1962) with the title: "der blinde Netzflicker" Very nice, detailed oil painting on canvas. Dimensions: without frame: approx. 80 x 70 cm, dimensions with frame: 100 x 89 cm The oil painting is signed on the bottom left with W. GDANIETZ Condition of the painting: Good, age-appropriate condition, minimal craquelure, see photos. About the painter: Born with a hearing defect in Mainz, he attended the deaf school in Osnabrück. Between 1911 and 1918 he studied at the Düsseldorf School of Applied Arts, which later became the Düsseldorf Academy of Fine Arts, under Claus Meyer (1856 - 1919), Eduard von Gebhardt (1838 - 1925) and Wilhelm Spatz (1861 - 1931), as well as in the master studio with Franz Kiederich (1873 - 1950). . At first he painted motifs from South Tyrol and Austria, which he found during his travels through the Alps. Later, Gdanietz ran a studio in Volendam, Holland, where he painted numerous of his motifs, especially Dutch genre and interior paintings, which now make up the bulk of his more than 1000 paintings. With the construction of the dyke on the Zuiderzee, fishing villages disappeared and tranquility and idyll were lost, so the artist gave up his studio in Volendam in 1930 and retired to Düsseldorf. About the painter:

Born with a hearing defect in Mainz, he attended the deaf school in Osnabrück.
