Yamaha - YDS5 - 250 cc - 1967

Yamaha Pioneer - Japanese. 'Citizens version' of the TD1C production racer, Yamaha put itself on the map with this model as an important manufacturer in the 60s. The glory days of the 250 cc class. The successor of the YDS3/TD1B. Far before the RD series. Unfinished restoration from the 80s. The block (slightly older than the frame) was perfectly overhauled by a true connoisseur. Hence the declaration of '0 km'. Cylinders have the ‘S-holes’ which had just been invented in 1967. The black parts have been powder-coated. Tank, headlight and lamps were expertly sprayed, not the rest. Everything is original, but never assembled: the right parts could still to be found 35 years ago, therefore everything is correct... The restoration must therefore be completed, but you will not need to look for parts. The indicators were an option. You can also leave them off (there are only 2). The chrome on the exhausts is ugly, but still usable. Reassemble it and you’ll have a good, beautiful 60s Yamaha Pioneer bike, no doubt you will score points at two-stroke events. Conversion to TD1C would not affect its history. Large photos: get ready to zoom in... Initial registration 01-09-1967.
