Beautiful richly executed Neo-Gothic mass chalice on six-lobbed foot.
The chalice (calix in Latin) is a chalice, which belongs to the vasa sacra (the sacred vessel) of the liturgical vessels.
During the Holy Mass, the chalice is used to do the mass wine to be consumed, which becomes the blood of Jesus Christ after consecration.
Because the chalice is thus involved in the part of mass that is considered the most sacred, most chalices are particularly rich and lovingly decorated.
This unique chalice is carried out with a gilded Cuppa with the text on the opposite cuppa:
Calicem salutaris accipiam, et nomen Domini invocabo, "I will lift the cup of redemption, I will invoke the name of the Lord. (Psalm 116:13)
Also, there are ears of corn, flowers and grapes/tendrils visible that refer to the bread of the Eucharist' died grain becomes bread, and the grapes/tendrils) symbols the wine 'pressed grapes become wine of joy.
On the trunks below and above the decorated nodus is the text Redemisti nos Domine in sanguine Tuo' (Redeem us Lord by your blood).
The beautiful typically neo-Gothic six-lobbed pedestal is beautifully set up with detailed images of the Saints S.Maria- S.theodori- S.Lamberti-S.Elisabeth and S.Joannes.
Finally, at the bottom of the pedestal is engraved:
In Honorem SS. Sacramenti Gulielmus Frater, Theresia, Joanna atque Christina sorores, hang mihi calicem dederunt. (In honour of the Most Holy Sacrament. "Brother William, Theresia, Joanna, Christina, and sisters, gave the cup to me)
