An impressive and museum-worthy chalice in baroque style, with decoration typical of Venetian production of 17th century.
The lower section is embossed with angels holding the symbols of the Passion of Christ in their hands, surrounded by acanthus volutes. Has a minor crack on the stem, as shown in photos.
The stem is decorated with flowers, leaves and cherubs.
The circular base is embossed with acanthus and angels holding the symbols of the Passion of Christ.
This item is very hard to find on the antique market.
Complimentary gilded metal paten and case. Height: 22.5 cm. Base: 11.6 cm.
Weight: approximately 350 grams.
With the Lion of Saint Mark ‘in moleca’ (in the form of a crab) hallmark together with two initials.
