Leandro Mbomio Nsue (Guinea Ecuatorial, 1938 - 2012) Signed and hand-dedicated by the artist at the bottom and numbered P/A Unframed Fair condition but with stained edges from old framing Dimensions: 54 x 44 cm Biography He was Minister of Culture of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea for more than twenty years and one of the most important artistic figures in Africa, known throughout Africa as "The Black Picasso", is president of the Association of Plastic Arts of the International Centre of Civilisation Bantú, [CICIBA] [1] He was the first civilian in the Government of President Obiang and also the only one who remained for so long. He was the president of CICTE in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, and General Commissioner for Expo 2008 in Zaragoza, representing Equatorial Guinea. There are numerous exhibitions presented and many works that appear in official museums and in private collections. He has been delegate of Art by the OUA (Organisation of African States) in the I Pan-African Cultural Festival of Algiers, in 1968; Director and Co-founder of Sala Gaudí in Barcelona; Director of Promotion of the I Congress of Plastic Arts of Latin America in Barcelona; Director and Co-founder of the Cultural Association "A-71" of Barcelona; Guest of Honor at the Ohio International Expotur (USA): Guest from Africa at the IV Bratislava Triennial; XXVIII Exhibition of the Salon de la Jeune Sculpture in Paris. He is considered Benjamin de Picasso and de Senghor, de Lam and de Makaba and de Césaire and Ambassador of the International Parliament for Safety and Peace for his work for the Pax in Africa and corresponding to the Royal Spanish Academy of the Language. He died at the La Paz polyclinic in the city of Bata on November 12, 2012 as a result of a "long illness that he had been suffering from" at that time occupying the position of president of the Council for Scientific and Technological Research of Equatorial Guinea (CICTE). Prizes - I National Painting Prize (Equatorial Guinea) - III National Painting Prize Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid. - Africa Prize for Sculpture in the exhibition organized by the Higher Council for Scientific Research and the Institute for African Studies in 1967 and 1971. In 1974 (out of competition) he was awarded the Prize of Honour for Africa. - Award-Grant from the "Art-Corston Foundation" at the Cincinnati International Arts Festival (USA). - Two diplomas of the International Ceramic Fair of Valencia. - Four Diplomas of the Institute of African Studies in Madrid. - Diploma of Excellence from the Hollywood Institute of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. - Diploma of Honour from the Barcelona International Trade Fair. - Prize of Honour and Gold Medal of the III Artesport-74 Biennial, in Bilbao. - Medal of Africa (Extraordinary Prize) of the Exhibition of Painters and Sculptors of Africa. Madrid, March 1975. - Bronze Medal at the 1976 Grand Prize sculpture exhibition of the Círculo Bellas Artes in Madrid. - Prize of Honor and Gold Medal of the V International Biennial of Sports of the Círculo de las Bellas Artes.
