WWI Ferdinand I Romanian sword
A quite scarce Spanish-made WW1 Romanian sword in good condition for its age, Eagle head hilt with Imperial Crown to top
The blade is made of Toledo steel decorated with floral motifs and has a central fuller on each side. On the front side is the cipher of King Ferdinand I surmounted by the royal crown and the inscription “Toledo”. On the backside of the blade is engraved the Romanian coat. of arms. The grip is covered with ribbed ebonite and the pommel is shaped like an eagle’s head, missing one of the red stones from the eye of the eagle, comes with its original leather portepee which has red yellow, and blue sewing.
The scabbard is in good condition retaining most of its finish,
Ferdinand 1st - reigned October 1914 to July 1927 A scarce and intriguing sword especially with the German link with Ferdinand.
