Kodak Retina II Type 122 with 50/2.8 Xenon, very rare 35mm rangefinder camera, c.1936/37 exc+

This is a very rare camera, for film 35mm, made by Kodak around 1936/37. It's the Retina II Type 122 with Schneider lens 50mm F:2.8 Xenon on Compur Rapid-Shutter. It was the firts Retina camera with rangefinder and with wind level (this was then abandoned up to Retina IIa). It was a "delicate" camera (and perhaps not very well designed), especially the shooting system. It had a complicated shutter transnission system and the shutter button was too protruding. Another delicate point had to be the wind level which, as mentioned, was then replaced by a button. Even the position of an eyepiece isn't "happy", just behind the rewind knob. Probably all these problems made this camera not very efficient, it was soon replaced by the model 142, for the happiness of today's collectors... Not many of these cameras are on the market today, maybe it wasn't convenient (or easy)to repair them. As is possible to see from the pictures this camera is in exc+ condition, with some signs of use (please remember its age). The shutter run but the shutter button (its head has been probably changed) has lost "strength" and it can not control the shooting. Also the rewind button has lost its strength and it's unable to rewind the film. The rangefinder has lost contrast and it is difficult to see the double image. The front door does not close properly. There are dust, impurities and a light haze inside the lens. Please note, this camera is sold as a collector's item, not for use. It's probably the rarest of the Retina cameras, it's a great item for the Kodak collector.
