Very rare and beautiful flintlock pistol signed by ‘Nicolas Noel Boutet’! This is marked as number #1 of a pair! Walnut shaft with fish skin cut on the butt and V-cuts on the top surface of the butt. Iron fittings consisting of an exquisitely engraved butt plate, two decorated lock screw bases, trigger guard with a lower frame, engraved on the front section and two ramrods. Flintlock with a flat lock plate,bevelled at the edges, and corresponding swan-necked hammer, iron, horizontally mounted pan with a flash guard on the hammer side; battery spring screwed from the inside of the lock with a roller on the top shank. Trigger with a French rear hair trigger, this really performs. Manufacturer’s signature, ‘Boutet / Directeur Artiste’ in italics on the lock plate below the pan. Octagonal barrel along the entire length, flared at the muzzle. The three cut flat surfaces on the top are blued, pronounced relief and inlaid with gold. To the side, on the left, is the italic signature ‘Boutet Directeure Artiste’ and on the right ‘Manufact à Versailles’. ‘1’ on the breech at the top (pistol N°1 of a pair). Standing rear plate on the tail plate, front sight directly on the muzzle. The multiple rifled barrel has a rifling of 90°. Original, corresponding wooden ramrod with a horn tip.
