Since its first vintage (1985) it has gained a cult following both in Italy and abroad. Since 1992, L’Académie du Vin has recognised this wine as being amongst the greatest, internationally, in this category. The vineyards are located at the top of the Bellavista Vineyard, where several small parcels make up the L’Apparita vineyard, which measures less than 4 hectares. The clay-rich soil gives this wine structure, elegance and its unmistakable softness. In the glass it moves slowly and reveals its beautiful colouring; it is dark red, dense and impenetrable, and its colour foretells its elegant, introspective and complex bouquet. It opens with notes of purple and black berry fruit, blackberries, blackcurrants, plums, cassis and blueberries and then makes way for sweet spices and vanilla with a touch of eucalyptus and juniper. In the mouth it is fresh, with soft and silky tannins and glycerine. Overall it is harmonious, enveloping and decidedly persistent.
