"It is Shiva performing his ecstatic, cosmic victory dance, wildly kicking on the back of the evil demon Nuyalakan. His right foot on the demon, his left foot lifted and he has four arms. The first right arm holding a damaru (an hourglass shaped drum indicating the rhythm of time), his second right arm wrapped by a cobra with the palm of his hand straight up in the pose called Abhayamudra, a royal gesture removing fear.
