Chassis number 79/010178D delivered new in Belgium via Novarobel on the 5th of February 1979. 79/01 = production year & month , 0178 = serial number (79th Eclat for export, 10th in Silver). Electric windows and factory original Alpine cassette stereo radio. Engine 907 = 4 cylinder, 2.0 double overhead camshaft, 160hp, rear-wheel drive Series 521 = 4-speed manual transmission + O/D (overdrive). Current owner since 2011. Organizer of the prestigious Antwerp Concours d'Elegance where this Lotus was displayed in 2011 (= Lotus theme exhibition). Body and interior virtually original. Complete full mechanical restoration between 2014 and 2016 at a cost of approximately € 20000 of which 8000 euros of new parts via SJ Sportscar UK & Anglo Parts in 2014 + 2015. Suspension , brakes, exhaust, engine and gearbox overhauled. Underside of the car in 'as new' condition. Recently (Jan+Feb.2024) a new master cylinder and petrol pump were fitted. Around 50km driven since full mechanical restoration. Perhaps 1 of the best and most original Lotus Eclat in the world out of a production of around 1500 examples between 1975 - 1982. Many examples were neglected in the 1990s and early 2000's which makes this car unique in this condition. Mechanicallyas good as perfect with original 'look & feel' in 1 of the best color combinations. Only windscreen needs to be replaced due to a crack at the bottom.
