Tosa cutlery has a history of 400 years.
The manufacturing method for Tosa cutlery has been inherited from the secret free forging method, which was born from Japanese sword making techniques.
Forging is the process of heating a metal material to an appropriate high temperature and applying force between the upper and lower anvils using a press or hammer.
There is no fixed "mold", so everything is shaped through experience.
It takes many years to become a full-fledged craftsman.
In May 1998, it was designated as a traditional craft production area by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry.
