A very old red varnished samurai helmet (hineno zunari kabuto) – Japan – 16 century (uromachi period 1333-1568)
A red varnished head-shaped hinero zunari kabuto consisting of 5 metal plates.
With four neck protectors (Shikoro), two ear-shaped fukigashi, light blue cords (shinobi-no-o) in order to fasten the helmet and an orange tassel at the back.
The Hineno Zunari Kabuto model was designed by a gunsmith named Hineno Oribe-no-Kami, who was very popular in the second half of 16th century.
The samurai preferred this model in battles.
Size: 30 x 30 x 33 cm (hxlxw).
With signs of wear and age.
Signs of an old restoration on the right side of the helmet.
In good condition.
Delivered without the stand.
Lot will be carefully packaged and shipped by registered post.
