Marqués de Murrieta is the oldest family winery based in Rioja, Spain’s leading red wine region, concentrating exclusively on the production of premium Reserva and Gran Reserva wines since 1852. With a vision of innovation and respect for tradition, Marqués de Murrieta is rooted in strong, historical fundamentals that shape the vision and philosophy of this iconic Spanish brand.
The winery is settled near the southern tip of the Rioja Alta wine area, in the middle of the beautiful Ygay Estate, the biggest single estate in Rioja. Its 300 hectares are wholly owned, and all surrounding the estate, like a Chateau – unusual for the region.
Marqués de Murrieta is a long term project based on the clear business philosophy of a family company. Since 1996 the evolution of Marqués de Murrieta lies in the hands of V. Dalmau Cebrián-Sagarriga, Count of Creixell, whose father purchased the estate in 1983. The combination of V. Dalmau’s innovative ideas, respect for tradition and on-going investments guides a bright future for Marqués de Murrieta, one of Spain’s most historic wineries.
Behind the developments of Marques de Murrieta lies a clear vision: The pursuit of quality and excellence through tradition and innovation, by a family dedicated to introducing their fine wines all over the world, being nowadays present in 70 countries, meaning the export sales a 70% of the total.
