Epokale, in name and in fact, is a nectar from times gone by. In fact, it recalls the wines of the Middle Ages for its important sugar residue, which awards it in the Spatlese category, which refers to an ancient South Tyrolean technique. The result of a selection of grapes from the two oldest vineyards of Cantina Tramin, located near the famous Nussbaumer farm, Epokale is vinified with a short maceration on the skins and matures in steel for about eight months on its own yeasts before being transferred to the cellars. Monteneve mine. Let's imagine him resting in his bottle for seven years, in the darkness of a 4 km long cave, located at 2,000 meters above sea level and 450 meters below the mountain, conditions that allow a permanent temperature of 11 degrees and constant humidity of 90%. This process gives it its well-known intense golden colour, while the long refinement in the bottle allows it to develop spicy aromas with notes of cinnamon and ginger which take over from the basic hint of ripe exotic fruit. The broad and explosive sweetness that envelops the palate is never cloying, but rather strikes with a surprising mix of freshness and elegance. A unique wine in all genres, with the 2009 vintage it is the first Italian white to win the 100/100 from Monica Larner, representative for Italy of Wine Advocate (Robert Parker), even more relevant news considering that it is the product of a cooperative winery. In its 2013 version it achieved first place on the podium in the ranking drawn up by the German magazine Weinwirtschaft: best Italian wine tasting.
