Artwork 'Impronta' 80 x 80 cm plus fringe. Artwork created for the collective art exhibition CAVALLI D'AUTORE (6-31 October 2023, Museo Santa Maria della Scala, Piazza Duomo, Siena, Italy) The work is an abstract association with colours and symbols of the world of horses. I started from the image of the footprint of the horse hoof. I used yarn colours that recall the colours of horse hair an the fringe symbolizes the animal's mane and tail. The techniques used are tufting, punchneedle and embroidery, while the yarns used are wool, recycled and mixed yarns of Italian origin. In her studio Taftique in Florence, Dutch artist Jules Vissers translates an old tradition into modern artworks. Here she designs and creates hand-tufted and embroidered tapestries using high-quality Italian yarns. She graduated cum laude in Art Textiles at the Florence Art Academy and won the European Textile and Craft Award 2024 of the European Textile Academy in Bolzano, Italy for her work. She participates regularly in art and design events such as Milan Design Week, Dutch Design Week and Florence Biennale. She is a member of Homo Faber, a guide to European excellence in craftsmanship and sells her work also online with Artemest.
