A vintage of exceptional quality, considered one of the best Reserves produced by Tancredi Biondi Santi.
THE ORIGIN
The 1964 Riserva was produced exclusively with proprietary grapes belonging to vineyards over 25 years old. This wine precedes the registration of the clone known as Sangiovese Grosso BBS11 (Brunello Biondi Santi 11). Clone that bears the family name and was officially recognized in 1978.
REFINEMENT
The Riserva 1964 was aged in Slavonian oak barrels for 4 years. It was able to benefit from a very long refinement in the bottle in the quiet and darkness of "La Storica", the aging cellar of Tenuta Greppo, where all the historical vintages of Riserva Biondi-Santi are scrupulously preserved.
REFILLING
This vintage was topped up in 1985. This wine was chosen by the Italian Sommelier Foundation as the best Italian wine of all time on the occasion of the 150th Anniver…
