Because the scutes on its shell have concentric circles shaped like ancient Chinese copper coins, it is called the "money turtle" by the Chinese.
Currently in China, wild Cuora trifasciata is a national second-level protected animal.
The fossils of this turtle are very rare, and most of them have been collected by the National Museum. The fossils are very precious. Although the body is incomplete, they are of great collection value and significance.
