This vase is an Arita-yaki (Arita ware) vase made by Fukagawa Seiji, a purveyor to the Imperial Household Agency. It depicts plum blossoms. Arita ware is a general term for ceramics produced in Arita Town, Saga Prefecture, Japan. It was the first porcelain to be produced in Japan and is considered the origin of Japan's porcelain industry. Arita ware is known for its intricate painting and rich colors, reflecting traditional Japanese aesthetics.
