JEM (Joseph Mure) - Jarra (2) - Barcos - Vidro

A gorgeous signed pair of enamelled glass vases depicting boats by glass maker Joseph Mure, also known as JEM. The enamelled boat scenes using soft tones of colours and vivid black strokes are on a semi-opaque pearly white background, resulting in a very elegant and soothing looking pair of vases, perfect for any decor. The vases have an almost pearl-like shine under the light, instantly making the surrounding environment brighter. Joseph Mure was a glass artist who lived in Paris. He was perhaps François-Théodore Legras’ former pupil or employee; some sources even claim that he may be Legras’ son-in-law! In either case, he was most possibly close to Legras as he made vases very similar to Legras’, but perhaps with a design more into the modernity of 20th century, such as the case with this beautiful pair of vases. NO chip, NO crack, overall in good condition. Please note that there’s some wear on a sail of a boat, on one of the vases. See picture for a detailed view of the wear. These vases are about a hundred years old, if not more. The wear is barely visible under some light condition. Height: 23.5cm Diametre: 10.2cm Will be insured and packed securely with care.
