Artist: Miki Suizan三木翠山(1883-1957)A disciple of Seiho Takeuchi竹内栖鳳. His real name is Saiichiro Miki三木斎一郎. Born in Shamachi (present-day Kato City), Hyogo Prefecture, as the fourth son of Hisashi Hattori and his mother, Yasu. He has loved drawing since childhood, and learned painting from Rihei Miki (Nanseki), who ran a navy blue shop. Around 1900, he studied under Takeuchi Seiho and honed his skills in Japanese painting at the Chikujokai. In 1913, he submitted ``Morning Glory''「朝顔」 to the 7th Bunten Exhibition and was selected for the first time. Since then, he has been active in government exhibitions such as Bunten and Teiten. From 1925, he published a series of new prints featuring Kyoto customs, ``New Selection of Famous Places in Kyoto,'' from a publisher called Shotaro Sato Shoten in Kyoto, and in the same year held an exhibition of original prints with Kankata Yoshikawa. Meanwhile, he traveled to the United States for over a year from 1952, holding a solo exhibition of paintings of beautiful women, and in 1953 was awarded the title of lifetime honorary member by the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He passed away at the age of 73.
