His erotic photographs were very known to a wide audience in the 1990s, especially his pictures in the field of eroticism, nudity, BDSM and fetishes. His black-and-white photos were expressive, sensual and partly also provocative. His work has been published in magazines including Playboy, Penthouse, Stern and Der Speigel. His works have been exhibited internationally. In 1995 Blum married his long-term companion and model Sylvie Neubauer (Sylvie Blum). She was his muse in most of his works.
