Chief priest of Mannenzan Gokurakuji Temple of Daitokuji sect of Rinzai Buddhism. Studied under Priest Nanzan of Shinju-an (temple of Priest Ikkyu), the pagoda of Daitokuji Temple in Kyoto. His monk's name was Soko, and his Buddhist name was changed to Bunzan. He later became the abbot of Gokurakuji Temple in Kinosaki, Hyogo Prefecture. He died at the age of 78.

Nishigaki Soko (1908-1985)

Born in Gifu Prefecture.
Chief priest of Mannenzan Gokurakuji Temple of Daitokuji sect of Rinzai Buddhism.
Studied under Priest Nanzan of Shinju-an (temple of Priest Ikkyu), the pagoda of Daitokuji Temple in Kyoto.
His monk's name was Soko, and his Buddhist name was changed to Bunzan.
He later became the abbot of Gokurakuji Temple in Kinosaki, Hyogo Prefecture.
He died at the age of 78.
