Here we have an exquisite late 19th or early 20th Century oil on board by the artist Ignacy Zygmuntowicz, pseudonym Czeslaw Wasilewski.
Ignacy Zygmuntowicz was a painter from Warsaw, popular in the interwar period, the author of paintings inspired by the paintings of Kossak, Brandt, Chelmonski, Wierusz-Kowalski and Falat.
The painting features a couple on their long journey home by horse and cart. Accompanied by a pony they have purchased from the market. The painting is signed lower right. A wonderful piece of artwork which would grace any wall in your home.
