ABOUT THE ARTIST
With over 29 successful joint exhibitions and 1 solo exhibition under his belt Musa Mustapha Is a professional artist. He focuses on the Sensual nature of art, aiming to depict the complications of life (especially from his locality Nigeria) through the combination of colors, texture, African motives and symbolism and in sculptures too . His Exhibition has been hosted in institutions both local and international around the globe .
His works such as murals has been cited and referenced in numerous work of music and Walls of famous restaurants around the cities of Nigeria and mainly in the FCT (Abuja the capital of Nigeria)and other countries .
Musa Mustapha graduated from Abu Zaria, from the department of industrial design. He has been practicing art since then working with different artists and galleries home and abroad, such as Saatchi art gallery, Dolapo Obat gallery,Royurban kollection Gallary and more.
He collaborated with organization like Pepsi, Heineken, and recently worked with the Embassy of Spain in Nigeria and the British council of Nigeria in an exhibitions in two different events and has been on a lot of publications on newspapers and TV shows .
ARTIST STATEMENT
His style of art is afrofuturism a movement by the African creatives to show Africa from the African lens .
With the combination of abstract ,realism and multidimensional style , using vibrant colors and characters from traditional (Northern Nigeria)children’s stories and folklore ,he drives his inspiration nature and technology and fascinated about the circle of life both in biological and astrological aspects resulted to the sporadic effect which he uses kirkos (circle in Greek ),robotics and African motifs on the character skin or the background to indicate the circle of life and how connected the humans are to each naturally .
