A beautiful and colourful large six-panel byôbu 屏風 (folding screen) with a vibrant painting of a rich flower garden.
The garden is filled with all sorts of different blooming flowers, like red and white poppies ケシ属 (kutsuzoku), pink and white tree peonies 牡丹 (botan), and red star lily’s カノコユリ (kanokoyuri).
This multi-coloured painting is set on a paper background. The panels are surrounded by two borders, a thin gold/silver paper one, and a wide dark blue/black silk one. The screen is protected by a black lacquered frame.
In the lower left corner a partial red seal.
Period: Japan - Late Meiji period/Taishô period (First quarter 20th century).

Total width: 378.6 cm (2 x 64.3 cm, 4 x 62.5 cm); Height: 172.9 cm.
The room divider is in a good condition with some traces of age, wear and old restorations. Please look at the photo of the restored hole in the lower right corner. For a clear condition reference please take a close look at the photos as well.
The folding screen is ideal for mounting flat on a wall and presenting as a single work of art.
