It reached an international reputation in the 1980's, when sprays of acicular green pyromorphite on matrix were found. Green pyromorphite rapidly became the 'green gold' of miners, however the alteration zone it was found in was not an ore target for the mining operations. The mine shut down in 1993 without providing any actual new find. Here is a beautiful quality specimen of pyromorphite displaying green tufts scattered over all the faces of an angular host rock breccia element (a 'floater'). A French classic!
