A serene large six-panel byôbu 屏風 (folding screen) with a painting of a coastline.
It shows a vast view of an ocean with a rugged mountain range on the horizon. Out in the open sea, there is a large group of long fishermen’s boats with nothing but a few rocky islands in the far distance.
The multi-coloured painting is set on a paper background. Mounted by two silk borders, a thin golden one, and a broad blue one.
Signed and sealed in the lower left corner by the artist: ‘Made by Nyûsen’ 乳泉作 (Nyûsen saku).
These kind of room dividers are light in weight and can also be easily mounted flat on a wall and presented as one piece of art.
Period: Japan – Taishô period (1912-1926).

Total width: 373.4 cm (2 x 63.7 cm, 4 x 61.5 cm); Height: 171.8 cm.
In a very good condition with some very minor traces of age, wear and old restorations. Please check the pictures as a reference.
