Sasanian Lapis Lazuli seal with a loop for suspension on the back. The front is engraved with an insect, possibly a spider or ant. The stone is an attractive colour of indigo blue with flecks of naturally occurring calcite and golden inclusions of pyrite.
Size: ± 20,6 x 18,9 mm
Condition: good solid condition, giving a sharp and detailed impression. Some gilding still visible on the bird. Signs of wear consistent with age and use. See images.
