China Antiga, Terracota Estatueta Vitrificada Acompanhada por um Cavalo (Sem preço de reserva)

Qing Dynasty glazed female terracotta figure accompanied by a horse on rectangular base. The figure is dressed in a navy robes and a turquoise belt. The hair is presented done up in a typical high bun hairstyle. The facial features of both the figure and the horse are rendered delicately, with clearly engraved eyes and eyebrows in black pigment, with lips and ears in orange-red pigments, depicting a peaceful expression on the face. The horse is equipped with a saddle, harness and bridle and is carrying two buckets with painted rims, bound to the horse by an attachment over the saddle. Such figurines were made as burial objects and grave goods to be placed in the tomb, often as a larger group forming a precession for the deceased. Figures of this type are called mingqi in Chinese, and usually depict servants, officials, soldiers, musicians, court attendants, dancers and, in the case of animals, horses, and Bactrian camels. Tomb figures like these were popular among people of high social status during the Qing Dynasty, as they are believed to accompany the tomb owner into their afterlife, waiting to fulfil the desires and needs of the deceased.
